Violent Fugitive Task Force arrests violent fugitive wanted for child molestation
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A violent fugitive, wanted on charges of child molestation, attempted breaking and entering and vandalism, has been apprehended by the Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task force (RI VFTF) after four years on the run.
The RI VFTF announced that Omar Enrique Pagan, 29, was arrested this week in the Juana Diaz municipality of Puerto Rico by the Puerto Rico Violent Offender Task Force, along with the Puerto Rico Police Department.
On Oct. 6, 2014 a warrant was issued out of the Providence County Superior Court in Rhode Island for Pagan charging him with Failure to Appear for Pre-Trial on the charges of Attempted Breaking and Entering/Domestic, Vandalism/Domestic and Disorderly Conduct/ Domestic. In addition, on May 6, 2015, a warrant was issued out of the Providence County Superior Court for Pagan charging him with three counts of First Degree Child Molestation, 2nd Degree Child Molestation and Indecent Exposure/Disorderly Conduct.
In 2015, the Pawtucket Police Department requested the assistance of the RI VFTF with locating and apprehending fugitive Pagan. After exhausting resources in RI, investigators developed information that Pagan may have fled the continental United States.
In December of 2019, investigators learned that Pagan was residing in the Juana Diaz municipality in Puerto Rico and notified their counterparts in Puerto Rico. On December 17, 2019, at approximately 6:30pm, members of the Puerto Rico Violent Offender Task Force along with the Puerto Rico Police Department apprehended Pagan in the Juana Diaz municipality of Puerto Rico.
The Pawtucket Police Department and the Puerto Rico Violent Offender Task played a critical role, working hand-in-hand with the RI Violent Fugitive Task Force, in capturing this alleged dangerous predator.
The Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force is comprised of members from the U.S. Marshals Service, the Rhode Island State Police, and the Cranston, Coventry, East Providence, Middletown, Pawtucket, Portsmouth and Providence Police Departments.
