VIDEO: Bystanders rescue driver after car crashes into Massachusetts home, bursts into flames
A driver was injured and rescued by bystanders after a serious crash on Thursday.
According to Medford Firefighters Local 1032, Engines 1, 2, 6 and Ladder 1 responded to Lawrence Road for a car that crashed into a house and caught on fire.
Upon arrival, crews found neighbors pulling the driver from the fully involved vehicle.
An initial investigation indicated that the vehicle appeared to have struck a tree before ripping in half and striking the house. The engine of the vehicle landed in the bushes, with various other parts strewn across multiple properties.
Crews worked quickly to extinguish the fire, successfully preventing extension to the home.
The vehicle was stabilized, and the scene was assessed for other potential hazards.
The driver was transported to the hospital, and the occupants inside the home were unharmed.
According to a statement by the union, the situation could have ended even worse.
“This nightmare scenario could have gone significantly worse if not for the courageous actions of the bystanders and quick work of the responding companies.”
