Victim’s name released in Sunday’s fatal I-195 crash
Sunday morning, at approximately 6:34 a.m., troopers from the State Police – Bourne Barracks responded to reports of a serious injury crash on I-195 Eastbound before Exit 21 in Wareham.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2000 Nissan Xterra was traveling east, driven by a 19-year-old man, with a 18-year-old man as a passenger, both men are from Carver. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway, striking the guardrail off the left side of the roadway. Both men exited the vehicle to inspect the damage to the vehicle which was now disabled partially in the left travel lane. A 2008 BMW, driven by a 51-year-old man from Hyannis, then struck the Nissan and the 19-year-old man.
All three men were transported to Tobey Hospital. The 19-year-old driver of the Nissan was determined to be deceased as a result of injuries sustained from being struck. The other two men sustained minor injuries.
The 19-year-old driver is identified as Jack Quindley of Carver.
The remaining facts and circumstances remain under investigation by troopers assigned to the State Police – Bourne Barracks. Troop D Headquarters, State Police Detective Unit assigned to Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, State Police Crime Scene Services Section (CSSS), State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section (CARS), Wareham Police and Fire Departments, Marion Police Department, and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MA DOT) all assisted on scene.
