Victim’s name, details released in fatal Taunton crash
A 24-year-old Taunton man died Saturday evening after the motorcycle he was driving slammed into a Mini Cooper near the intersection of School Steer and Blinn’s Court in Taunton.
Taunton Police responded to the crash after receiving multiple 911 calls at 7:42 p.m. Saturday. When first responders arrived on scene, they located the victim, Brendon DaRosa, suffering from cardiac arrest on the ground in front of 183 School Street.
The victim was rushed to Morton Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased later in the evening.
According to Gregg Miliote of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, a preliminary investigation into the crash revealed that the Mini Cooper was about to turn left from School Street onto Blinn’s Court when the motor cycle, traveling the same direction, attempted to pass the Mini Cooper on its left side. This is when the impact occurred. Several witnesses reported seeing the driver of the motorcycle doing wheelies and attempting to pass the driver of the Mini Cooper at a high rate of speed.
The investigation is ongoing.
