Vehicle, foot pursuit on Route 24 leads to injuries after Massachusetts State Police attempt to stop vehicle

Two were injured after fleeing from police on Route 24 Tuesday.

According to Dave Procopio of Massachusetts State Police, at approximately 5:00 p.m. a Massachusetts State Trooper attempted to stop a 2017 Nissan Sentra with New Hampshire plates on Route 24 north in Brockton because both occupants were believed to be the subject of active warrants.

The suspects refused to stop and fled north at a high rate of speed. Troop D Headquarters authorized a pursuit of the suspects and assumed command and control.

The fleeing vehicle crossed into Troop H in Randolph, continuing at a high rate of speed. The suspect vehicle entered Route 93 north and continued to flee, using the breakdown lane at a high rate of speed. The suspects then crashed in the infield at Exit 5A on Route 93 north.

The male suspect ran from the crashed car, with two MSP Troopers in foot pursuit. The female occupant remained in the car after the crash. The female, a 45-year-old Weymouth resident, was transported, conscious and alert, by EMS to South Shore Hospital with a Trooper following the ambulance.

The male, a 37-year-old Bridgewater resident, was apprehended by Troopers after a brief foot pursuit. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital by ambulance, also followed by a Trooper.

Injuries to both suspects sustained in the crash are not life threatening, according to police.

Troopers are continuing their investigation and guarding the suspects at the hospitals. Potential charges are being determined. Police say that the vehicle occupant’s names will be released if and when they are charged.
