Update on car crash Saturday in Fall River
ACCIDENT UPDATE: The female driver is alert and responsive and has sustained a broken neck. She is in stable condition. The male driver of the 18 wheeler has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing property damage, leaving the scene, accident resulting in personal injury, and negligent operation.
A serious accident occurred shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon in Fall River at the corner of South Main and King Phillip St.
A hit and run of a tractor trailer truck allegedly occurred, but officers were able to track the driver down in Tiverton. According to a witness, a few motorcycle riders followed the trailer and they stopped the driver in the area of Famous Pizza in Tiverton before officers arrived.
A female driver was extracted from the vehicle using the jaws of life and sent to RI hospital.
