Two to be arraigned on murder charges after infant killed, pregnant woman critical, in Massachusetts shooting

One suspect in a fatal Massachusetts shooting to be arraigned while a second suspect remains hospitalized.

According to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office, Alejandro Ramos, 22, of Holyoke, is expected to be arraigned in Holyoke District Court for is suspected involvement yesterday’s shooting. He will be charged with murder. Other charges are expected to follow. He is being held without the right to bail after his arraignment today with his next scheduled court date on November 3, 2023.

Johnluis Sanchez, 30, of Holyoke, remains hospitalized. He will be formally arraigned on a charge of murder when his condition allows, other charges are expected to follow.

On Wednesday, at 12:38 p.m., members of the Holyoke Police Department responded to a reported shooting in the 100 block of Sargeant Street.

It appears three male suspects were involved in an altercation, during which a shooting occurred. It is believed one of the rounds from that altercation struck a public transportation bus and an uninvolved female occupant, who was seated in the bus.

The victim, who was pregnant, was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The infant, who was delivered, and needed life-saving medical services, tragically passed away.

All involved suspects are believed to have been identified, one was transported to nearby a hospital and one is in custody.

This incident is under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office and the Holyoke Police Department.
