Two suspects arrested after police recover 29 Massachusetts EBT cards, 900 pills, firearm, other drugs
Police in Massachusetts made an interesting discovery this week after stopping a vehicle without a valid inspection sticker.
According to police, on Tuesday just after 5:30 p.m. officers seized a loaded firearm, nearly 40 grams of cocaine, additional drugs and more than two dozen EBT Cards while arresting 33-year-old Mark Centeno & 29-year-old Astrid Reyes in a parking lot on the 500 block of State Street in Springfield.
Shortly before 5:00 p.m. Springfield officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle due to the vehicle not being inspected. The driver, later identified as Centeno, eventually stopped in a parking lot on the 500 block of State Street. Centeno informed officers he had a firearm in his waistband. Officers then were able to take possession of the loaded firearm.
During a search of the vehicle, officers recovered 29 Mass DTA or EBT Cards from 29 separate individuals wrapped in a rubber band. All had pin numbers and cash amounts available on the back of the cards. Officers then recovered more than 39 grams of cocaine, more than 900 pills of Oxycodone and marijuana. The drugs and EBT Cards were also in reach of the passenger of the vehicle. Officers placed Centeno and Reyes under arrest.
33-year-old Mark Centeno of Springfield was charged with Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Obtaining Credit Card of Another with the Intent to Defraud (28 Counts), Commission of a Felony while Armed (2 Counts), Conspiracy, Trafficking a Class B Drug (Cocaine), Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug (Oxycodone), Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class D Drug (Marijuana), and Operating a Motor Vehicle with an Expired Inspection Sticker.
29-year-old Astrid Reyes of Springfield was charged with Trafficking a Class B Drug (Cocaine), Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class B Drug (Oxycodone), Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class D Drug (Marijuana), Conspiracy, and Obtaining Credit Card of Another with the Intent to Defraud (28 Counts).

Color me surprised this State gives to anyone & everyone ” benefits ” including the junkies and they sell their ” benefits ” to the local drug dealer for 50 cents on the dollar and next thing you know Maura Healy is bemoaning we don’t have enough funding. Same people blazingly selling their ” benefits ” on Facebook Marketplace now factor in the illegal aliens and the real poor people on Massachusetts are the ones who suffer because the system allows abuse. Maura doesn’t care she got a $37,185 raise as well as a $185K salary and a $65K housing stipend in the worse economy in generations.
