Two sent to Rhode Island Hospital after Fall River dog attack
Police are investigating after two people were bitten by a dog Tuesday.
At approximately 5:45 p.m., a call came into dispatch concerning the 100 block of Tremont Street for multiple adults who had been bitten by the family dog.
Upon arrival, responders discovered two adults had been bitten by the dog in the home.
According to Captain Barden Castro, the dog owner identified the dog breed as a Pitbull Mastiff mix.
The serious injuries were described as non-life threatening bites to both victim’s arms and the two were transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.
The dog was turned over to the custody of Animal Control.

In the US a pit bull kills a person an average of once every twelve days. They are weapons that can pull their own trigger.

Any dog can be dangerous when it lacks a responsible owner and care. A childhood friend of mine was nearly killed by a golden retriever when he was a teenager. If his mother wasn’t a medical doctor, he likely would’ve died.
I rescued a pitbull-mastiff mix when she was 6 months old. She was properly trained and shown love, treated like family not property. She is a loving dog who loves people, especially children. Genetics also play an important role.
In short, if any dog is trained and raised to be aggressive, or weaponized, there will always be consequences. Too many people take on the responsibility of ownership, but not the responsibility of imprinting and raising it properly.

I think, too often, pit bulls who have shown no sign of aggressiveness and were raised properly still kill and seriously main people, particularly children in the family. It’s all over the news. I do notice when pit bull supporters post, they virtually always talk about their personal experience with them (to date, anyway) and ignore the many attacks.

Fall River doesn’t have a hospital? Or was it already full of gunshot victims?

It is because Rhode Island Hospital has a trauma center.
