Two schools in Taunton cancel school Tuesday over threatening note

TAUNTON — Police Chief Edward Walsh reports that the Taunton Police Department is actively investigating a threatening note that was found inside Taunton High School Monday afternoon.

According to Taunton Police, near the end of the school day on Monday, a high school faculty member found a threatening note inside Taunton High School and immediately reported it to school administrators. Taunton Police were notified and an investigation was launched.

School has been cancelled Tuesday, May 22, for students and faculty at Taunton High School and Parker Middle School. There will be no after school activities.

At this time, the investigation of this incident is active and ongoing.

All Taunton High School and Parker Middle School students are required to make up the school day. Originally, THS students were only required to attend school for half-days during finals on the 21st and 22nd of June, 2018. These days will now be full-days of school for all THS students. More information will be provided to Parker Middle School students and staff on how it is planned to make up the instructional time they will be losing tomorrow.
