Two rounds of heavy rain headed to much of New England
More heavy rain is headed our way. With two rounds arriving at various times.
According to the National Weather Service, a period of heavy rain and scattered storms is likely late tonight into Friday with a second round Friday evening-Saturday morning. A widespread rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is likely however there is a low risk for a few heavier bands with rainfall totals of 3 to 4 inches.
Here is the weather outlook for the next couple of days from the NWS:
Tonight
A chance of showers, mainly after 1am. Patchy fog between 1am and 4am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 53. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Friday
Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 4pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 4pm and 5pm, then a chance of showers after 5pm. Patchy fog after 7am. High near 66. Southwest wind 11 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Friday Night
Showers likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 7pm. Patchy fog. Low around 58. South wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Saturday
Showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 5pm. Patchy fog before 11am, then patchy fog after 1pm. High near 64. South wind 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
