Two of three Fall River men charged concerning the death of 44-year-old Fall River man sentenced
Two of three Fall River men charged concerning the death of 44-year-old Jose Roberto Zelaya in October of 2022 have pled guilty and were sentenced to prison.
42-year-old Luis Colon-Delgado pled guilty last week to Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon and Assault and Battery and was sentenced to three years in prison with credit of 253 days served.
23-year-old Jose Pagan pled guilty Monday to Accessory After the Fact, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Assault and Battery. He was sentenced to one year in prison with credit of 121 days served.
Fall River Police were called on October 9th to the Riverside Sports Bar and Restaurant on Rodman Street for a reported altercation and shooting outside the establishment. When first responders arrived on scene, they located a male victim on the ground.
Zelaya, was rushed to Saint Anne’s Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 2:20 a.m.
According to information released in October, a fight broke out inside the bar between Colon-Delgado and another man then continued outside. Zelaya, who was outside and not involved in the altercation, tried to help the bouncer of the establishment when Pagan and his friends allegedly got upset with him. 36-year-old Anthony Miranda was then accused of shooting Zelaya during the altercation.
Miranda was arrested and charged with Manslaughter, Assault and Battery by Discharge of a Firearm, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Carrying an Illegal Firearm and Carrying a Loaded Illegal Firearm. Miranda pleaded not guilty and has yet to go to trial.
