Two from New Bedford charged after police locate vehicles stolen out of Fall River, Berkley
Police continue to investigate after two people were arrested concerning two local vehicles stolen.
According to police, on Monday at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Berkley Police Department swiftly responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from a residential driveway.
Working in collaboration with the homeowner, Berkley officers successfully activated the vehicle’s OnStar location system, leading to the tracking of the stolen vehicle into the neighboring town of Rehoboth.
The Rehoboth Police Department promptly responded to the scene and managed to apprehend one suspect, however, several other suspects fled in a separate vehicle, a BMW reported stolen out of Fall River. A pursuit ensued. with the Rehoboth Police Department chasing the fleeing vehicle into Taunton.
In Taunton, four suspects were cornered and forced to abandon their vehicle, attempting to escape on foot.
Officers from numerous surrounding cities & towns, including Berkley Police Officers Haarala, Freire, and Meadows, swiftly converged on the scene to provide support. As a result of their coordinated efforts, a second suspect was successfully apprehended.
According to ABC6, 23-year-old Cye Key of New Bedford and a 16-year-old from New Bedford were arrested. Key faces several charges, including receiving a stolen motor vehicle, carrying a dangerous weapon, contributing to the delinquency of a child, and conspiracy. The juvenile was charged with two counts of receiving a stolen vehicle, possession of burglarious tools, receiving stolen property under $1,200, and conspiracy. They were both held on bail and will be arraigned in Taunton District Court.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing, and the Berkley Police Department is currently examining at least two additional car break-ins that occurred earlier this morning, which may be connected to this case.

The cycle continue. Criminals take from the law abiding hard working people, USELESS judges , DAs slap their wrists , criminals become emboldened because there are no real consequences for their actions and the prey again the working people. DO NOT vote for anyone who allows this behavior
