Two local police officers were recognized for their life-saving actions.

According to Dartmouth Police, on Monday morning, Officers Max Szteliga and Dominik Sullivan-Souza were presented with the department’s Life Saving Award for their actions on June 3, 2024.

Officers Szteliga and Sullivan-Souza were on patrol when a call came in requesting an ambulance for someone unresponsive in a vehicle on the side of the road. A citizen driving in the area came across the vehicle, put it in park, and dialed 911.

Upon arrival, officers found the male not breathing with no pulse. He was pulled out of the vehicle, and they began CPR. Shortly after, a shock was administered using an AED where the victim then regained a pulse and consciousness.

Because of their quick response and lifesaving actions, Mr. Dembitzki is now doing well and visited the station today with his family to be a part of the ceremony.
