Two arrested for allegedly trafficking large amounts of Fentanyl, Cocaine throughout southeastern Massachusetts

Two Massachusetts men have been arrested on multiple drug charges.

According to Massachusetts State Police, for several months, the Massachusetts State Police Commonwealth Interstate Narcotics Reduction Enforcement Team (C.I.N.R.E.T. South) conducted an investigation into a Drug Trafficking Organization responsible for trafficking large amounts of Fentanyl and Cocaine throughout southeastern Massachusetts. The Brockton Police Department, East Bridgewater Police Department, Department of Homeland Security Investigation, Quincy Police Department, Norwood Police Department, multiple Massachusetts State Police Units including D Troop patrol, MSP Gang Unit, Plymouth County SPDU and the Drug Enforcement Administration also assisted in the investigation.

As a result of this investigation, which included controlled purchases of narcotics, extensive electronic surveillance and motor vehicles stops resulting in large seizures of narcotics, investigators were granted search warrants for six residences and two motor vehicles.

These search warrants resulted in the arrest of Joshua Tavares, 23, and Kareem Pires, 22, both of Brockton.

Upon the arrest of both men, they were transported to State Police-Middleboro for booking and were scheduled for arraignment at Brockton District Court on the charges of Trafficking in Fentanyl, Trafficking in Cocaine, and Conspiracy to Violate Drug Law.
