Two 18 and 17-year-olds from Brockton arrested in early morning shooting after pursuit

Two teenagers from Brockton were charged this morning in a weekend shooting after a chase.

According to Acting Chief Michael Jenkins, on Saturday, May 13, just before 8:15 a.m., the East Bridgewater Police Department received reports of a 2005 gray Ford truck driving slowly along Cedar Street followed by shots fired.

Responding officers passed the suspected 2005 gray Ford truck on Central Street. Officers immediately tried to initiate a traffic stop of the truck and the driver sped off.

Officers initiated a pursuit of the vehicle as it drove toward Route 14 and headed toward Brockton. While attempting to stop the vehicle, the suspects’ truck crashed into another vehicle and came to a complete stop, and both suspects proceeded to flee on foot.

Officers located both suspects, later identified as 18-year-old Bryce Lucas and a 17-year-old juvenile, both of Brockton, and placed them under arrest without further incident.

While searching Lucas, officers discovered a semi-automatic pistol magazine. The magazine did not contain any ammunition.

During a preliminary investigation, officers discovered several rounds that hit a home on Cedar Street and determined that the weapon that was used was discarded. The East Bridgewater K-9 unit was requested, and a gun was found on Central Street.

There were no reported injuries.

A subsequent investigation determined this was not a random act of violence.

Lucas was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery attempt with a Firearm, Discharge of a Firearm within 500 feet of a building, Carrying a firearms without a license, Carrying ammunition without an FID card, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Threat to a Commit a Crime, and Conspiracy to Commit a Crime.

The juvenile was arrested and charged with Failure to Stop for Police, Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Speeding in Violation of Special Regulation, Threat to Commit a Crime, and Conspiracy to Commit a Crime

Lucas is being held on $200,040 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Brockton District Court at a later date.

The 17-year-old is being held on $250,040 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Brockton District Court at a later date.

“The safety of our community is our top priority, and I want to commend the officers for their diligent and professional work during this incident,” said Acting Chief Jenkins.
