A local man is thankful to be alive after a highway collision late last week.

At approximately 2:45 p.m. on Friday, Massachusetts State Police and Rehoboth personnel responded to Route 195 West between Exit 5 and the Seekonk line for a tractor trailer rollover in the median.

According to Trooper Brandon Doherty, the truck went off the roadway and struck a tree.

The operator, a 34-year-old man, was transported to Rhode Island Medical.

The victim, Kyle Grenier, stated that the front steer tire blew on the truck and that no speeding, or texting was involved.

Grenier is obviously pretty banged up, but that didn’t stop him from trying to find a Good Samaritan that may have saved his life.

“I don’t know who the guy was that took his company shirt off at the scene and held me tight and kept pressure on my head because of all the bleeding. I would like to at least say thank you and shake his hand or buy him coffee or dinner because without him, I could have bled out on the highway. He had a Columbus Gas shirt. I have reached out to the company but I’m not sure if he works for them.”

It turns out that Grenier told Fall River Reporter that he did in fact find him. His name is Jay, and he does work for Columbus Energies on Route 6 in Swansea.

We are happy to hear that Kyle will get to thank the man who saved him, and we applaud Jay for his selfless life-saving actions!
