Three Massachusetts police officers were injured in two separate crashes overnight; one on the South Coast, another in the Boston area

Three officers in Massachusetts were injured in two separate crashes overnight. One taking place on the South Coast and another in the Northern part of the state.

According to Massachusetts State Police, shortly before 11:00 p.m. Saturday night, a Massachusetts State Trooper and his cruiser were hit by a vehicle as the Trooper was getting out of the cruiser to assist at the scene of a prior crash. The incident occurred on Route 195 West in New Bedford.

The Trooper, who is assigned to the Troop D Community Action Team, was injured and was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital. He was evaluated and treated and eventually released.

The operator of the vehicle that hit the Trooper also suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. The investigation into the crash to determine if that operator will face charges is ongoing.

Two Boston police officers were injured, and another person was transported to the hospital at approximately 3:00 a.m. Sunday morning after a crash in Roxbury.

According to WCVB, a Boston Police Department prisoner transfer wagon collided with another vehicle and then crashed into a residential fence in the area of Dale Street and Walnut Avenue in Roxbury.

Two officers are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The condition of the third person injured in the accident was not released.
