Three from Fall River arrested on multiple drug and gun charges

Three from Fall River were arrested on multiple drug and gun charges over the weekend.

According to Massachusetts State Police, on Saturday evening, at approximately 8:35 p.m., Trooper Brian Kilfoyle, who is assigned to State Police–Dartmouth, was on patrol of I-195 Westbound in the city of Fall River, when he stopped a 2010 Ford Fusion for a motor vehicle violation.

The vehicle was occupied by three occupants. After a brief investigation, the driver, a 17-year-old juvenile female and two passengers, Thomas F. Kerrigan, 22, and Eric M. Avila, 21, all of Fall River, were found to be in possession of a loaded Taurus 9mm pistol. None of the three are licensed to carry firearms. In addition to the firearm, they were also found to be in possession of several bags of marijuana packaged for distribution, 45 Clonazepam pills, THC oil syringes, THC oil vape canisters, 17 THC chocolate bars, a THC resin container, and over $4,000 in U.S. currency.

All three were placed under arrest and transported to the Dartmouth Barracks for booking.

Avila is charged with the following:
1. Possession of a firearm;
2. Possession of firearm without FID card;
3. Carrying loaded large capacity firearm on way;
4. Possession of a large capacity weapon or feeding device;
5. Possession of a large capacity firearm in felony;
6. Possession of ammunition without FID card;
7. Possess to distribute Class D drug;
8. Possess to distribute Class C drug;
9. Possess to distribute Class C drug; and
10. Conspiracy to violate drug law.

Kerrigan and the juvenile are charged with the following:
1. Possession of a firearm;
2. Possession of firearm without FID card;
3. Carrying loaded large capacity firearm on way;
4. Possession of a large capacity weapon or feeding device;
5. Possession of ammunition without FID card;
6. Possess to distribute Class D drug; and
7. Conspiracy to violate drug law.

In addition to the above, the Juvenile was also charged with the following:
1. OUI Drugs
2. Left lane violation
3. Speeding

Avila and Kerrigan were transported to the Bristol County House of Correction, pending their arraignment in Fall River District Court this morning. The Juvenile was released pending arraignment in Bristol Juvenile Court this morning. No further information is available. Do not contact the barracks directly.
