Third individual charged in connection to fatal Fall River shooting of Colus Jamal Mills-Good held on bail, police find gun

A third individual who was arrested Tuesday in connection to the ongoing investigation into the Thursday morning fatal shooting of Colus Jamal Mills-Good in Fall River faced a judge Wednesday.

According to Gregg Miliote of the Bristol Count District Attorney’s Office, 19-year-old Jadyn Ortiz of Fall River was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon in Fall River and is charged with Accessory to Murder-After the Fact.  

Ortiz was arraigned on the charge Wednesday morning in Fall River District Court where his bail was set at $500,000 cash and if posted, he must wear a GPS tracking device and have no contact with any witnesses in the case. Ortiz currently has multiple outstanding cases.

Xzavien Figueroa-Valcarel, 19, of Fall River and Giovanni Nunes, 18, of Fall River were both also charged with Accessory to Murder-After the Fact over the weekend.  They are both being held on $250,000 cash bail.

Fall River Police responded to the area of Rock and Franklin Streets around 11:41 a.m. last Thursday for reports of shots fired.  When they arrived, they located a male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  The victim, identified as Colus Jamal Mills-Good, 18, of Fall River, was rushed to Saint Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, where he was later pronounced deceased.

According to ABC6 , Figueroa-Valcarel, Ortiz, and Nunes were allegedly inside the suspect vehicle, an Acura, when the shooting took place. Prosecutors say that when Ortiz was arrested at his apartment, police found cash and a 45-caliber handgun that was thrown out the window. The firearm is being tested to see if it matches the gun used in the fatal shooting.

“The front seat passenger from that Acura fired four shots from a 40-caliber firearm from the intersection at Mr. Mills-Good. One of the backseat passengers ran directly at Mr. Mills-Good and at point blank range fired five shots from a 45-caliber firearm.” 

Ortiz’s next court appearance is scheduled for May.

Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office, Fall River Police, and Homicide Unit prosecutors are actively investigating the homicide.  The investigation is being coordinated by Assistant District Attorney Jason Mohan, who will also handle tomorrow’s arraignment.
