The next supermoon for 2020 is headed our way
Those who enjoy special sights from the sky will be able to enjoy a treat in the coming days.
The Super Worm Moon, which also goes by many other names such as Crow, Sugar, and Lenten, will be on Monday at 1:48 p.m. EDT. The Moon will look full for approximately three days centered on the beginning time, which means from early Sunday morning into early Wednesday morning.
A supermoon is when the moon will be full and closest to earth. That combination makes the moon look both bigger and brighter.
According to NASA, the southern tribes called this the Worm Moon after the earthworm casts that appear as the ground thaws.
NASA states that at 2:31 a.m. on Tuesday morning, the last supermoon of the winter will be its closest to the Earth for this orbit.
According to the Farmer’s Almanac, the next supermoon is the April’s Full Pink Moon which will occur on April 7 at 10:35 p.m. EDT.
