One of the well known owners of a Freetown staple has sadly passed away.

Ron Stapleton, co-owner of The Nephews Restaurant, has died at the age of 65.

His wife and co-owner Sandy Stapleton took to social media to break the news and give tribute to the man who put so much blood, sweat, and tears into his restaurant.

“It is with a heavy, broken heart that I feel the need to make this very difficult post. My beloved husband and soulmate Ronnie has gone home to be with the Lord. Those of you who knew him knew what a warrior he was. He worked tirelessly 7 days a week, 12 -14 hours a day over the last 26 years to make Nephew’s what it is today. He was the hardest working, kindest, most generous, humble man that you could ever imagine. We worked side by side, and our children and their friends grew up learning from a great man what it means to truly make something out of nothing. He loved the town that continued to support him over the years, and he gave so much to the youth and community. He did so with no reservations…..he and I were just so grateful for the community. Our employees are our extended family, we owe them so very much. We were blessed to have such a supportive dedicated extended family. To all of you who were part of that family over the last 26 years I give my love and sincere thanks. My husband touched so many people over the years…..he was fierce in his determination to make things better for all of you. My children will help me through this difficult time, as they are all as fearless and as strong as he was. He was so proud of them and loved them so much. I ask you all to keep us in your prayers during this extremely difficult time…I am heartbroken, but know he is where he needs to be. He was a true soldier, a bull….he was my rock I will miss him so very much……Thanks for being such a huge part of our lives.”
