Texting and driving leads to two arrests Friday morning
It is not a good idea to text and drive, especially when you don’t want to bring attention to yourself from authorities.
On Friday August 3 at 9:00 a.m., Yarmouth Police Department Patrol Officers John Lanata, Jr. and Rick Aprea observed the operator of a vehicle texting while driving and stopped her vehicle near the exit 8 Off Ramp in South Yarmouth.
The driver initially lied to the Police Officers about her identity and was charged with several offenses.
The passenger was found to have a warrant for his arrest and transported to Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters for booking. After completion of the process, he was transported to the Barnstable District Court for arraignment.
The woman driver, 26 year old Gina Giovangelo of Webster, was charged with operating a motor vehicle with license revoked, motor vehicle operation refusing to identify self and texting while driving.
The passenger, 29 year old Pofinima Gweama from Pawtucket, Rhode Island, was arrested on a warrant out of Attleboro District Court for unlicensed driving and speeding.
