Teenager ejected, four others injured, in fatal multi-vehicle crash on Route 93
A teenager has been killed and several others injured in a serious crash Saturday night.
According to Dave Procopio of the Massachusetts State Police, at approximately 10:30 p.m. Massachusetts State Troopers from the Milton Barracks and investigative units responded to a multiple-vehicle crash on Route 93 southbound in the area of Exit 2B in Canton.
The crash involved a 2012 Jeep Wrangler operated by a 17-year-old male and a 2011 Toyota Corolla operated by a 28-year-old woman. In addition to its driver, the Wrangler was carrying four passengers, one of whom suffered fatal injuries.
Preliminary investigation indicates that while traveling southbound on Route 93, the Jeep’s driver, while in close proximity to Exit 2B, attempted to cross multiple lanes to take the exit. The Jeep struck the Toyota on the ramp. The impact pushed the Toyota into the wood line and caused the Jeep to roll over across the ramp and into the adjacent infield.
A rear-seat passenger in the Jeep, a 17-year-old boy from Natick, was ejected. He was transported by ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, where he was pronounced deceased. Because he is a juvenile, his name is not being released.
All other occupants of the vehicles were transported to area hospitals for observation or treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
It is the second 17-year-old killed in a crash since Thursday as a 17-year-old RI teen was ejected and killed in a serious motor vehicle crash.
The facts and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by MSP Troop H patrols and detectives, the MSP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the MSP Crime Scene Services Section.
