Teen dead, 4 others suffering life-threatening injuries, after vehicle crashes during attempted motor vehicle stop by police in Plymouth County

BROCKTON – Massachusetts State Police and Abington Police are investigating a fatal single motor vehicle crash that left one teen dead and four others seriously injured, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz and Abington Police Chief John Bonney have announced.

At approximately 7:47 this morning, Abington Police observed a Hyundai that had previously been reported stolen, and were attempting to make a motor vehicle stop when it appears the motor vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree at 877 Washington Street. Five people were inside the Hyundai at the time of the crash.

One person, a female, was ejected from the motor vehicle. Three other passengers in the car – a male and two females — sustained life-threatening injuries and were taken to area hospitals, before being transported to Boston hospitals for treatment.

The 17-year-old male operator was pinned inside the motor vehicle. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Abington Police contacted the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, to begin the investigation, which is active and ongoing, at this time.
