School Resource Officers were notified by the Administration of Taunton High School that a student that had not been at school for the better part of the school year had intended to return to school Monday. School Resource Officers Laplante and Borges awaited his arrival. The student had previous disciplinary issues. When student Kane Jefferson arrived at the entrance he was greeted by Officers. Jefferson was wearing a back pack when he arrived.
School Resource Officers greeted him at the door. Kane Jefferson had no interest in speaking with the officers and immediately became animated and non-compliant.
An attempt by Officers to speak with Jefferson was met by him making threats to murder them. Jefferson was escorted to the security office. It was then that he threatened to disarm them, kill them, then return with an AR-15 and shoot up the school.
The decision to arrest Kane Jefferson was met with active resistance. He was taken to the ground after a brief struggle and handcuffed.
He was transported back to the Taunton Police Department where he was booked.
No weapons were found on Jefferson at the time of his arrest.
