Taunton man arrested in Dartmouth armed jewelry heist

Dartmouth, MA – On Monday, January 28, 2019 at approximately 8:33 p.m. members of the Dartmouth Police Department responded to an armed robbery at Jewelry Express inside of the Dartmouth Mall.

According to Dartmouth PD, upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect had smashed a glass case with a hammer, and made off with assorted jewelry valued at over $87,000.

While interviewing witnesses, officers were able to get a description of the suspect, as well as a registration plate off of the vehicle in which he fled.

After a regional broadcast regarding the vehicle was put out, officers from the Lakeville Police Department located both the suspect and his vehicle in their town.

As a result of a corresponding investigation by Dartmouth Police Detective Derek Sousa, Drew A. Beck, 30, of #840 County Street, Taunton, Massachusetts, was arrested and charged with armed robbery, vandalism, use of a motor vehicle in the commission of a felony, and larceny of property valued over $1,200.

Beck’s vehicle was impounded, and the investigation continues.
