Swansea Selectman has plan to make mall bid more attractive
When the Swansea Mall goes up for auction a month from now, a town selectman is hoping to institute a measure that will make buying the property more attractive.
Christopher Carreiro issued a statement Thursday concerning his hope to get 5 all alcohol liquor licenses for the Swansea Mall area.
“Since there are no available liquor licenses in Swansea, I will be asking my colleagues on the Board of Selectmen to support placing a Home Rule Petition to the Massachusetts Legislature as an article on our next upcoming Annual Town Meeting Warrant set for May, which if passed, will provide an additional 5 non-transferable all alcohol liquor licenses, specifically for Swansea Mall Drive and the area of Route 6 between Gardners Neck Road and Maple Avenue, in an effort to maximize redevelopment potential for the area.”
