Swansea Selectman Christopher Carreiro not seeking re-election, running for different post
Current Swansea Selectman Christopher Carreiro has announced that he will not be running for re-election and will run for another position.
Carreiro issued the following statement Tuesday morning.
“After a rewarding nine years as your Swansea Selectman, I will not be seeking re-election. Instead, I’m embarking on a fresh new chapter. I’m thrilled to announce my candidacy for Bristol County (Fall River District) Register of Deeds!”
In addition to being a Swansea Selectman, Carreiro is currently an attorney and real estate agent.
Bernard McDonald III is the current Fall River District Registry of Deeds, a position that will be up for re-election next fall. McDonald has run unopposed until his win in 1994. The position comes up for re-election every 6 years.
The Fall River District Registry of Deeds is a recording office for real estate instruments affecting title to property located in Fall River, Somerset, Swansea and Freetown. Real estate instruments recorded in the Registry include: deeds, homesteads, liens, mortgages, takings, and plans.
