Swansea Police say no threat to school despite video circulating online

Chief Marc Haslam would like to inform community members that the Swansea Police Department is aware of a video circulating online regarding a threat at the Case Middle School in Watertown, New York, and assures community members that there is no active threat to any of the Swansea Public Schools at this time.

The Swansea Police Department received numerous calls this afternoon reporting a video circulating online involving an individual holding what appears to be a gun and making threats to a school known as the Case Middle School.

Swansea Police immediately launched an investigation into this video and learned that the video originated in Watertown, New York regarding a school there.

Swansea Police contacted the Watertown, New York Police Department, which confirmed that it is aware of the video and actively investigating.

Police say that at this time, there is no immediate threat to the Joseph Case Junior High School or Joseph Case High School in Swansea. Out of an abundance of caution, the department will have an increased presence at all Swansea Public Schools throughout the school day tomorrow.
