Swansea man dies after Monday evening accident in Fall River
A man who was injured in a serious motorcycle crash on Monday in Fall River has died.
Massachusetts State Police detectives, Accident Reconstruction Units, Fall River Police, and prosecutors are investigating a fatal traffic accident, which occurred Monday night in Fall River.
According to Gregg Miliote of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, at approximately 9:37 p.m., Fall River Police and emergency personnel responded to the intersection of South Main and Middle Streets for reports of a serious traffic accident involving a Harley Davidson motorcycle being struck by a Honda Civic.
When first responders arrived on scene, they located the driver of the motorcycle lying in the middle of the roadway. The 28-year-old driver of the Honda Civic and his two passengers remained on scene and were interviewed by police.
The motorcyclist, later identified as Eric Liebl, 51, of Swansea, known by friends as the “Witchdoktor”, was rushed to St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River before being transferred to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, RI. The victim had sustained serious head trauma in the crash.
Miliote stated that despite efforts by doctors at Rhode Island Hospital, the victim died on Tuesday afternoon at 12:59 p.m.
The investigation into this incident remains active and ongoing at this time.
Criminal charges have yet to be brought.
