Suspects attempt train derailment according to Massachusetts State Police
Massachusetts State Police are looking into an incident where it appears individual(s) attempted to derail a train.
According to Dave Procopio of Massachusetts State Police, shortly before 9 a.m. Thursday, Massachusetts State Police Lt. Edward Blackwell responded to a report of vandalism and attempted derailment on the Massachusetts Coastal Railroad tracks in the vicinity of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy station in Bourne.
Lt. Blackwell observed five concrete blocks that had been placed onto the tracks, presumably overnight. MSP Troopers and railroad workers removed the blocks, some of which weighed approximately 200 lbs., from the tracks by 9:15 a.m.
The blocks were not struck by any trains.
The investigation into who placed the concrete blocks onto the tracks is ongoing.
