Strong winds, heavy rain, power outages possible for much of southern New England
A strong storm system will bring the potential for damaging wind gusts and scattered power outages to Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook this afternoon for northern Connecticut, all of
Massachusetts east of Berkshire County, and Rhode Island.
The greatest risk is across portions of eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
The storm is expected from Monday into Tuesday with heavy rain in addition to the strong winds.
The magnitude of the winds still remains a bit uncertain and will be fine tuned in later forecasts, however, the current forecast predicts gusts of up to 50 mph.
The heavy rain will leave the potential for localized poor drainage street flooding along with possible coastal flooding during Monday evening high tide along portions of the south coast.
