State Rep. Fiola, State Senator Rodrigues host dedication ceremony for Fall River autistic teen who died of starvation, neglect
A Fall River teen is receiving a posthumous honor to remind everyone that a death such as his should never happen again.
At 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 21st, State Representative Carole Fiola and State Senator Michael Rodrigues, who filed the legislation, will host a Dedication Ceremony of the Grove at Heritage State Park (in the picnic area) in honor of David Almond.
Almond, a Fall River autistic teen, tragically passed away in October of 2020 at the age of 14 from starvation and neglect. His death sparked outrage throughout the community and led to the Office of the Child Advocate conducting a multi-agency review. A report detailing the progress made was released in late March of this year.
Almond’s father and girlfriend have yet to face trial concerning his death.
Community members are invited to attend and take a moment to remember David and create a permanent reminder that children, just like David, live within our system and deserve all of our care, attention and vigilance from those who may cause them harm or death.

He and his brother were also supposed to get under the care of the department of social service’s why are they not facing charges in his death, they placed that child there knowing his father was a drug user and never check in on him physically only virtually. So they are as much at fault.
