State Police: Three killed after injuries sustained in Massachusetts plane crash
Three people are dead after a plane crashed in Massachusetts on Sunday.
According to Dave Procopio of Massachusetts State Police, at approximately 11:45 a.m., local fire and police departments, Massachusetts State Police, and Massachusetts Environmental Police were notified of a small plane crash reported to have occurred in the area of Country Club Road in Greenfield.
A short time later, responders reached the crash site, which was in the Leyden Wildlife Area.
Initial investigation reveals that all three adults aboard the aircraft suffered fatal injuries.
The plane was a twin-engine Beechcraft. The crash location is in a clearing on the side of a wooded mountain on the Greenfield/Leyden line.
State Police detectives and Prime Scene Services crime scene personnel are processing and documenting the scene. The National Transportation Safety Board is expected to have investigators on-scene by tomorrow. The Federal Aviation Administration and Massachusetts Department of Transportation Aeronautics Division have been notified of the crash as well.
The investigation is ongoing.
