State Police investigating truck shooting at and hitting vehicles on Route 24
The Massachusetts State Police are investigating an apparent shots-fired incident that occurred on Route 24 in the Randolph area yesterday.
According to Dave Procopio of the Massachusetts State Police, around 3:00 p.m. Saturday, a motorist called State Police to report that a person was firing a gun out of the window of a dark-colored pickup truck that was traveling on Route 24 northbound. The caller reported that the shooter was firing at other vehicles.
Multiple State Police patrols converged on the area in an attempt to locate the suspect vehicle. State Police also noticed all local police departments in the area to be on the lookout for the pickup truck. The pickup was not located; no injuries were reported.
A short time later a male motorist called 911 to report that something had struck and broken the rear window of his Toyota Sienna van. The man did not report any injuries. State Police patrols and detectives responded to the motorist’s location and observed evidence that the van’s rear window had been struck by gunfire. Troopers from the State Police Crime Scene Services Section and Ballistics Unit also responded and processed the van.
State Police continue to actively investigate this incident. Anyone who has information, or who was in the area of Randolph, Stoughton, or Brockton yesterday and observed a dark-colored pickup truck, is urged to contact MSP Troop H Detectives at 617-740-7812.
