State Police HIDTA Task Force arrest Rhode Island woman after seizing drugs, gun, $19,000 in cash

The Rhode Island State Police announced that members of the HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) Task Force arrested a woman for possessing an illegal firearm and a large amount of fentanyl.

The arrest of 33-year-old Jodiany Urena of Pawtucket was the result of an investigation initiated by the Rhode Island State Police HIDTA Task Force regarding the distribution and sale of narcotics. At the culmination of this investigation, members of the Rhode Island State Police HIDTA Task Force executed a court authorized search warrant at the suspect’s residence and seized approximately 300 grams of suspected fentanyl, a loaded Glock .40 caliber pistol with and extended magazine, $19,613 in cash and narcotics distribution materials.

Urena was subsequently arraigned at Providence County District Court on charges to include possession with the intent to deliver 1 oz-1 kilogram of a Schedule II Controlled Substances (Fentanyl), possession of a firearm while committing a controlled substance violation, possession of a firearm by certain persons prohibited, and possession of a large capacity feeding device. Urena was held without bail as a probation violator for a previous narcotics distribution conviction.

The Rhode Island State Police High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force is comprised of members from the Rhode Island State Police, Providence Police Department, North Providence Police Department, Lincoln Police Department, Middletown Police Department, Bristol Police Department, Narragansett Police, DEA Providence District Office, and Department and Rhode Island National Guard Counterdrug Program.
