State Police Association of Massachusetts releases more details concerning missing and suicidal man in Westport

The Massachusetts State Police Union has released more details concerning a suicidal man that was being searched for in the Westport woods off of Route 6 near State Road Auto Sales.

According to the State Police Association of Massachusetts, on Wednesday, Westport Police requested the assistance of State Police to search for an injured suicidal individual. It was reported that the injured man had cut his own neck using a knife and then fled into the woods.

Members from Troop D, K-9, and the Special Emergency Response Team were dispatched to Westport to aid in the search.

SERT was advised by local partners they had located the subject in the dense swamp. Troopers, with assistance from Environmental PD and Westport PD, entered the wood line. MSP K-9, SERT and EPD found the man sitting at the base of a tree actively cutting himself. Subsequently, the Troopers and Officers moved in, secured the man, and rendered first aid.

The man was ultimately transported to a local area hospital.

SPAM went on to say that the success of the mission demonstrates shared dedication of all of the members and partnered agencies.
