State Police announce identity of victim in fatal motorcycle crash on Route 95
Authorities have announced the identity of a motorcycle rider killed in a crash Friday afternoon.
According to Rhode Island State Police, at approximately 4:45 p.m. Troopers from the Lincoln Woods Barracks, as well as members from the Pawtucket Police and Fire Department, responded to reports of a crash involving a motorcycle on Route 95 South in the City of Pawtucket.
The investigation revealed that a Yamaha sport bike style motorcycle was operating in the high-speed lane of Route 95 South. As the motorcycle approached the Broadway overpass, it entered the left shoulder and struck the jersey barrier located in the center median.
As a result of the collision, the operator, identified as 37-year-old Christopher Varble of Providence, was thrown off of his motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries. Varble was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and there were no other vehicles involved in the incident.
He was pronounced deceased on scene by members of the Pawtucket Fire Department and transported by members of the Medical Examiner’s Office.
