State Police accuse man of targeting juvenile girls for sex; firearm, high-capacity magazine seized
The Rhode Island State Police say that they have arrested a man who was targeting juvenile girls for sex.
According to RISP, 26-year-old Jamal R. Lewis, 26 of Lincoln was arrested on child molestation and weapons charges after an extensive investigation into multiple sex related crimes against minors by its Special Victims Unit, Intelligence Unit, Major Crimes Unit, and Violent Fugitive Task Force.
Members from the Rhode Island State Police Special Victims Unit received information that Lewis was targeting vulnerable, juvenile females for sex and other illegal activity since 2020. An arrest warrant and a search warrant were executed for Lewis and his residence. During the search, a loaded firearm with a high-capacity magazine and altered serial number was seized.
Lewis was charged with First-Degree Child Molestation, Possession of a Firearm by Person Convicted of a Crime of Violence, Alteration of Identification on Firearms, Large Capacity Feeding Device, and Conspiracy.
Lewis was taken into custody on Thursday, processed at State Police Headquarters, and later arraigned at Sixth Division District Court where he was held without bail.
