SSTAR receives $40,000 grant for new soon-to-open Fall River facility
Fall River – Stanley Street Treatment and Resources recently received a $40,000 grant from the Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation to fund their new facility on Weaver Street in Fall River. This grant was made in addition to an earlier $100,000 given by the Charitable Foundation to aid in the completion of SSTAR’s full- service health center. The building will soon house primary care, substance use disorders and mental health services, making it one of the only behavioral health centers that has achieved healthcare integration in the Massachusetts’ system.
“We do things differently here at SSTAR in our approach to substance use disorders. We focus on the whole person, mind and body. SSTAR’s continued commitment to offer an integrated system of care for every client who walks through our doors has taken another step forward with the addition of the Weaver Street building. The opportunity to provide increased levels of primary care, mental health treatment, and substance use disorders treatment for our patients promotes the best outcomes possible for all who we serve,” said Sherry Ellis, CEO of Stanley Street Treatment and Resources.
Rockland Trust says that the new 43,000 square foot facility will increase and improve SSTAR’s capacity to serve patients with substance use disorders. SSTAR’s existing facility in Fall River for the treatment of substance use disorder is one of the first in America that supplies a fully integrated program that offers primary health care, behavioral health care and addictive substance disorder care.
“We are honored to support SSTAR and deeply appreciative of the important work they do across the South Coast,” said Andrea Borowiecki, Vice President of Charitable Giving and Community Engagement at Rockland Trust. “With this new facility, SSTAR will drastically increase the scope of services and patient openings, providing additional relief and resources to individuals throughout our community.”
According to Rockland Trust, the building of the new facility was recently completed and is awaiting final licensing and outfitting. SSTAR’s anticipates that the organization will start seeing patients on Weaver Street sometime in the next few months. SSTAR’s unrestricted access program continues to serve the needs of patients, staff and the community at their other campuses while awaiting the opening of this new facility.
