Spray painting, concerts and puppet plays are being put on this week by the Fall River Public Library
Summer starts NOW at the Fall River Public Library! On Monday, July 11 at 11 am, the 2022 Summer Reading season kicks off with a free family concert on the lawn. Vanessa and the Jumping Monkeys will get everyone up and moving with their lively, interactive music. Kids can also meet Scooby-Doo and Shaggy and sign up for the six-week Summer Reading Club. Kids can pick up their reading log and start their reading journey. Everyone who completes the program is eligible to win some fantastic prizes. This event is sponsored by Rockland Trust Bank.
For older kids and teens, the library will offer a Spray Paint Street Art Workshop, led by local artist Kevin Lamoureux, on Monday, July 11 at 6 pm. The art workshop is open to tweens and teens age 10-18. Registration is required. To sign up, or for more information, call Taylor at 508-324-2700, ext. 123.
On Tuesday, July 12th at 2 pm, the library will host a Beyblades Day. Kids 12 and younger are invited to bring their own Beyblades tops to compete in our arena, or they can try out Beyblades in the library. Walk-ins are welcome for this free, fun event!
On Wednesday, July 13, at 11 am, Margaret Moody Puppets presents The Trouble with Trolls, an original puppet play! Enjoy the show outside on the Elm Street Lawn. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Fall River Cultural Council, a local agency, which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
On Thursday, July 14, at 6 pm, don’t miss a very special concert event! Robert Black stars in the Ultimate Tribute Concert, singing the songs of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Roy Orbison! If you like some “old-time rock and roll,” Heritage State Park is the place to be. This free, all-ages event is NOT in the library but at the Park. In case of rain, the concert will be held at Kuss Middle School, 52 Globe Mills Avenue. This event is sponsored by Debby and Richard Danner. UPDATE: POSTPONED TO AN UNDERTERMINED DATE.
Other events will be taking place at the library this week, including storytimes, crafts, BEAM interactive games, and Board Game Day on Fridays. To view a full library event calendar, visit fallriverlibrary.org.
