Southeastern Massachusetts man suffers significant injuries, including brain bleed, after head-on crash

Family says that a southeastern Massachusetts man has a list of significant injuries after a head-on crash before Christmas.

Chief Neil Foley reported late last week that the Plymouth Fire Department responded to a serious, two-car head-on motor vehicle crash on Friday afternoon that resulted in serious injuries to multiple motorists.

Plymouth Police and Fire responded to a location on South Meadow Road at 3:15 p.m. for a report of a motor vehicle crash with airbag deployment and injury.

Upon arrival, firefighters found two occupants in one car and a single operator in a second car. All three victims were treated at the scene by Plymouth Firefighters and all three were conscious but were exhibiting signs of serious injuries.

All three people were transported to South Shore Hospital.

According to his stepdaughter, one of the victims in the crash was Rafael Hernandez.

Keira DiSciullo stated in a fundraiser that Hernandez was almost home when the accident occurred. After being transported to the South Shore Hospital, it was determined that his injuries were too complicated and that he should be sent to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.

DiSciullo said that Hernandez “took the brunt end of the impact and sustained serious injuries, including a bleed on the brain, fractured skull, broken facial structure, fractured back, shattered femur in his left leg, broken tibia in his right leg, and a broken heel. He is currently having complications due to swelling.”

Multiple Plymouth Police and Fire units responded to the scene along with three Brewster Ambulances.

The crash remains under investigation by the Plymouth Police Department.
