Southcoast Hospitals on Newsweek’s World’s Best list for fourth straight year
FALL RIVER, NEW BEDFORD and WAREHAM, Mass. – Southcoast Hospitals Group, consisting of Charlton Memorial, St. Luke’s and Tobey, has again earned global recognition on Newsweek’s list of World’s Best Hospitals 2022.
“I am so proud of the outstanding efforts of our staff, both on the front lines and behind the scenes,” said Dr. Rayford Kruger, President and CEO of Southcoast Health. “As we continue to navigate the ongoing challenges throughout the healthcare industry, I am continuously inspired by the dedication and skill of our nurses, providers, and all employees. Southcoast is honored to be named to Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals list for a fourth consecutive year, and this accomplishment is a reflection of our unwavering commitment to offering the highest-quality care right here in our community.”
The World’s Best Hospital’s List is compiled by Newsweek and the global data research firm Statista Inc. as a resource to help patients make informed decisions when choosing the right hospital for their care. This list additionally serves as a benchmark for hospitals, indicating their relative performance in comparison to both national and international peers.
In 2022, Newsweek and Statista considered hospitals from 27 countries across the world to create the World’s Best Hospitals List. This is Statista’s longest-running partnership with Newsweek and their most prestigious award. Hospitals were evaluated based on three data sources, including recommendations from medical experts, results from patient surveys, and Medical KPIs on hospitals.
This year, over 2,200 hospitals were ranked, with just 414 hospitals from the United States earning a spot on the list. Of this group, 16 hospitals from Massachusetts and two from Rhode Island were recognized. Southcoast Hospitals Group was one of only four community high public payer hospitals from Massachusetts recognized on the list.
