Southcoast Health welcomes New Year’s Babies at Charlton Memorial and St. Luke’s Hospital
Fall River, Mass.- The First New Year’s baby born in the South Coast region arrived at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River at 12:59 a.m. on Tuesday, January 1, 2019.
Melissa and Kelvin Alves, both of Fall River, welcomed baby girl, Khaya Amari Alves, weighing 8 pounds, .8 ounces, and measured 20 inches. Khaya is the family’s third child.
Chrissie and Jason Soares, of New Bedford, welcomed a son, Ethan Oliver Soares, at 1:31 a.m. on Tuesday morning at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford. Ethan weighed 9 pounds, 4 ounces, and measured 22 inches. Ethan is the couple’s third child.
Both families received a $100 gift card from Target and a plush toy donated by the Auxiliary of Charlton Memorial and St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary.
The families also received a gift bag donated by the Gleason Family YMCA in Wareham including a 1 year family membership, a baby swim class, a onesie, a t-shirt, and a travel bag.
