South Dartmouth man who died from injuries sustained in crash being remembered for love of daughter, hockey
A South Dartmouth man is being remembered after he was killed in a crash late last week.
According to Massachusetts State Police, at approximately 4:15 a.m. Thursday, Troopers from the State Police-Dartmouth Barracks responded to Route 140 north at Braley Road in New Bedford for a single-vehicle crash that resulted in a fatality.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2006 Ford F150 pickup was traveling north approaching Exit 7. Just past the off-ramp for the exit, the pickup struck the guardrail at a high rate of speed and went airborne.
The driver, who is believed to have been unbelted, was ejected in the crash and determined to be deceased on scene.
He has been identified as 44-year-old Joshua Ferreira, according to Trooper Brandon Doherty.
Ferreira is being remembered as an amazing father and a great friend who was an accomplished hockey player and had a love of sneakers.
The dates for Ferreira’s services have yet to be announced.
The crash remains under investigation by the State Police-Dartmouth Barracks, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.

I’m not your bro loser! If he was such a great driver he could have avoided killing himself. Article says he was driving at a high rate of speed on black ice with no seatbelt on. That doesn’t sound like a smart person who cares about himself and his family or others to me! Its people like that who kill innocent people everyday. 🖕

Being dead does not exempt you from having made idiotic decisions. If he had been driving at a rate of speed to match the conditions and had a seatbelt on this would not have happened. All good drivers know to be aware of black ice if it is below 32 degrees and the roads are wet and not drive at a high rate of speed! 🙄
