Somerset Chief of Police Todd Costa has announced that he will be retiring later this year.

In a post on his Facebook page, Costa shared his decision to retire in the follow statement:

Greetings Friends, Family and Somerset Residents,

Yesterday morning I informed the Board of Selectmen, through Town Administrator Mark Ullucci, of my intention to retire from the Somerset Police Department effective August 3, 2024, after nearly 33 years of service. My decision has been prompted by the realization that my most valuable asset is time; time that I wish to dedicate to my family and the pursuit of other interests.

There will be plenty of opportunities to reflect upon my career and to express thanks to those who have taught and supported me over these past many years.

To the residents of Somerset who have placed their confidence in me, please rest assured that for the next four months, I remain committed to assuring you will continue to receive the excellence in policing and service that you deserve.

Sincerely,

Todd V. Costa
Chief of Police
Somerset Police Department
