Somerset mourning sudden passing of Fire Chief Scott Jepson
SOMERSET — Somerset Deputy Fire Chief Jamison Barros, Police Chief George McNeil and Town Administrator Richard M. Brown regret to announce the sudden death of Somerset Fire Chief Scott Jepson today.
At approximately 1:30 p.m. Thursday, police and fire personnel responded to the residence of Chief Jepson, who was suffering from an injury.
Chief Jepson, age 54, was immediately transported by ambulance to Charlton Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Somerset Police and State Police detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s office are conducting an investigation, as they do in all cases of unattended death. However, foul play is not suspected at this time.
Fire, police and town officials are devastated by the loss of Chief Jepson, a 27-year veteran of the Somerset Fire Department. Our deepest condolences and prayers are with his wife and son.
The matter remains under active investigation.

OMG Scott was one of the nicest men in the whole Town of Somerset. He was always there to give a helping hand.. whether it was to personally shovel snow away from hydrants, or serve lunch to the seniors at the center’s luncheons, or to be the first one at an emergency call. I never heard anyone say a bad word about this prince of a man. I am very saddened like so many residents will be. RIP dear Scott.
