Somerset Car Dealership’s license to operate reinstated

The Somerset Board of Selectman voted on Wednesday evening to extend the operating license of Three Dads Auto until the end of the year after the license was not renewed last December surrounding concerns from the town over how many vehicles were for sale on the property.

Concerns from the town building inspector about how many cars were actually for sale on the lot caused the board to hold off on approving the license at it’s annual renewal.

At the January 3rd Board of Selectman Meeting, an attorney representing the owners argued that the business was in compliance with the requirements of the permit and that the building inspector did not connect with staff on the day where he went do an inspection. He maintained that not only were cars distinguished for sale by a sticker in the window, but the business also keeps a detailed log on site that records each vehicle that is currently for sale.

At the Wednesday hearing, it seemed all issues had been resolved. Selectman Jacob Vaught apologized to Three Dads Auto manager Arthur Bosse for suggesting that the business needed to take the issues to the Zoning Board of Appeals.

The Somerset Building Inspector stated that a site plan for the business was agreed upon and that the business was in compliance with all requirements to operate.

Manager Bosse also spoke at the meeting and said that his experience with town employees after the previous January meeting was the best he had in the past fourteen years.

The hearing concluded with all three members of the board approving the license to operate effective today until the end of the year, where it will be up for it’s annual renewal.
