A situation was resolved Thursday night in Fall River and the result could have been much different.

According to Det. Sergeant Moses Pereira, at just before 11:15 p.m., units were called to a residence on Carlisa Drive regarding a 35-year-old male in crisis.  The reporting party indicated that the male was in possession of a firearm.

Upon arrival, units observed the man inside the residence through a window.  Sgt. Brian Cabral established contact with him and was able to de-escalate the situation and obtain his cooperation.

The man was transported to Charlton Memorial Hospital for an evaluation.
